Dragon Racing will field Super GT racer Andrea Caldarelli and Mercedes-linked Formula 3 racer Maximilian Günther in next month's Formula E rookie test in Marrakesh.

All 10 Formula E teams will stay on in Marrakesh for an additional day following the E-Prix on January 13 in order to field two-car entries to the rookie test that is open to any driver who does not hold an e-licence.

2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg made his much-anticipated return to the track on Saturday in Berlin as he completed a demonstration run behind the wheel of the new 'Gen2' Formula E car that will be used in the series from the start of its fifth season.

While Rosberg stressed he was having no thoughts about returning to motorsport after announcing his retirement from racing just days after winning the F1 title in Abu Dhabi, the German nevertheless enjoyed his first run-out in Formula E machinery, having become an investor in the series last month.

Defending Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi has been hit with a 10-place grid penalty for Saturday’s Santiago E-Prix in Chile following an inverter change on his Audi ABT Schaeffler car.

Di Grassi has endured a torrid start to the season, failing to score any points through the opening three races following a number of reliability issues for the Audi squad.

The Brazilian admitted to Crash.net following the last race in Marrakesh he faced an uphill struggle to defend his title, with the latest grid penalty in Santiago only deepening his plight.

Mahindras thrown out of Paris FE qualifying, Wehrlein loses pole

Pascal Wehrlein has been stripped of pole position for Saturday's Formula E race in Paris after both Mahindra cars were deemed to have run below the minimum required tyre pressure level.

Wehrlein had edged out Nissan's Oliver Rowland to claim his second Formula E pole at Les Invalides circuit in Paris on Saturday afternoon, but will drop to the rear of the grid as a result of the infringement.

Teammate Jerome d'Ambrosio had qualified sixth, but he too will drop to the rear of the field as a result of the breach.
